An oft-published style authority, Randy Florke is a successful, well-known decorator, author,magazine contributing editor, realtor and entrepreneur. As Contributing Editor to Country Living magazine for 14 years, he has had numerous decorating projects and more than a dozen articles featured in the magazine. He is also the author of two Country Living decorating books: Restore. Recycle. Repurpose: Create a Beautiful Home (Hearst Books, 2010); and Your House, Your Home: Randy Florke’s Decorating Essentials (Hearst Books, 2005), reissued as Simple Sustainable Style: Ways to Make a House Your Home in 2012. His homes and work have been published in O: The Oprah Magazine, The New York Times and Good Housekeeping. A natural on-camera, he has been featured on the TODAY Show, HGTV, Entertainment Tonight, CNN Style, CBS NY, as well as in People magazine, W magazine, and more. He and his brother were the stars of a reality TV show pilot for the A&E network called “My Flipp’n Brother.”
Randy began his career working for legendary interior designer Juan Pablo Molyneux, and selling vintage country furniture from his native Iowa in a storefront in New York City. From there, he developed his own interior design practice and began selling real estate in Sullivan County, New York, through his firm, The Rural Connection. Randy has also designed an eco-friendly, farmhouse-style, modular home for New World Homes, where he is a founding partner, and continues to run his own interior design business. He has been a corporate spokesperson and a speaker at events such as the Green Homes Summit.
Randy has actively worked for his adult life on issues of equality and civil rights. Since becoming a Congressional Spouse, Randy has used this higher profile public platform to advocate for an understanding of equality by sharing his life story and work through a lecture series with students in higher education.
