Born and raised in St. Lucia, Nina Compton grew up with the flavors and beauty of the Caribbean. Upon completion of secondary school in England, she returned home where she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a chef. Her culinary adventure carried her from Jamaica to the Culinary Institute of America and onwards to NYC and Miami. A finalist on Bravo’s “Top Chef New Orleans,” Compton relocated to Nola and opened her first solo restaurant, Compère Lapin. The winner of the 2018 James Beard Awards’ Best Chef/South, Compton also oversees her latest epicurean venture, Bywater American Bistro.
