"Danny and I spend our week day evenings in Manhattan either ordering in or eating out and so we really cherish being able to cook and entertain at home on the weekends. But ever since Chris Turgeon opened up Wilde Beest in Kingston this past year, we find ourselves cooking less and less! It pains us to admit it for fear of not being able to score a table there ever again but the truth is that the dinners they are serving there are by far the best we have ever had dining out while living in the Hudson Valley over the past 12 years, and rivals the best we have had in NYC as well! They are making pure magic in that kitchen."
"I really enjoy Gaskins, a great restaurant in Germantown. It’s our go-to spot when we’re looking for delicious local farm-to-table fare and to have a really charming and fun evening. The location is cozy and it has a delightful sparkle to the interior. Plus, the owners are consistently warm and friendly."
"Although I don’t go out for breakfast or coffee unless I have guests, I love going to the Bartlett House in Ghent for a twice-baked pistachio croissant to go (amazing!) and while there, I pick up a baguette for lunch. My guests love going here for breakfast on the porch."
"This 1765 historic homestead was built as a private estate for poet-naturalist Myron B. Benton, who created a refuge for romantics, naturalists, humanists, and poets, hosting such illustrious guests like Mark Twain, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and John Burroughs. Serving American farm-to-table cuisine sourced from local farms and purveyors from the Hudson Valley, the dining room has become a staple for residents of Amenia, Millbrook, Sharon, and beyond."
"Troutbeck is a 1765 country inn and tavern lovingly restored by new owners. Nestled in a park-like setting, it boasts a rich history of guests seeking a country retreat, and captures the spirit of the like of Mark Twain, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson and the naturalist, John Burroughs. Take time for a cocktail as you wander the first floor public spaces and marvel at the inspired decor that amalgamates the historic past with a modern flair."
