Georgina Schaeffer spent more than fifteen years working for shelter and society magazines as a writer, editor, and stylist, including posts as Executive Editor at Quest magazine and Senior Editor at Town & Country. Her work has been published in Absolute, Avenue, Elle Décor, Hamptons Cottages & Gardens and more. A native New Yorker and long-time summer resident of Southampton, Georgina began spending her summers and weekends in the Millbrook area in 2014 and quickly decamped to a bucolic hamlet of Dutchess County.

Georgina’s shortlist for Upstate NY

What are you up to these days?

Honestly, my schedule is pretty light at the moment. I was working so hard in my thirties, I burned out. The Millbrook area provided me the rest and tranquility I was so deeply craving. When we sold our family house in Southampton, a friend offered me her cottage in Millbrook for a month and I was hooked. I rented my own cottage the following fall and I haven’t looked back. I started horseback riding again and getting back in the saddle, pardon the pun, is the best thing I’ve done for my mental and physical health in years! Lately, I’ve been volunteering for local organizations and events like the Dutchess Land Conservancy and Fitch’s Corner Horse Trials.
