Foxfire Mountain House

Mt Tremper, NY

Our favorite restaurant is Foxfire Mountain House in Mount Tremper. Their menu is all locally sourced and their cocktails are all crafted with unique house-made infusions and bitters.

This old schoolhouse, turned Inn is one of my a favorite places to stop for a cocktail on my way though the Catskills.

Foxfire reminds me of my days on the west coast when I used to go to Cabo San Lucas when it was all dirt roads. There is something raw and sexy about the bar at Foxfire that gives me the same relaxed feeling.

Notes from the website:
Tim Trojian and Eliza Clark found the gorgeous old building in the heart of the Catskills that is now Foxfire in 2013. It wasn’t love at first sight because at first glance the renovations needed seemed overwhelming both for their skill level and for their budget. But the dream began, the lure of possibility, and the barely whispered…what if? Tim is a nomadic chef with a passion for rustic farm-to-table and open fire cooking. Eliza is a television producer and writer. Their goal was to find a way to work together daily, and fall into bed together nightly and be truly partnered in love and business. Foxfire offered that possibility. After renovating the 11-room inn together, learning as they went and being extremely hands-on DIY with most projects from laying Moroccan tile, to pouring a concrete bar, to designing custom beds and light fixtures, Foxfire Mountain House and Bar Room officially opened in May 2016. Tim and Eliza are using their reno skills and vintage furnishing expertise to take residential and commercial design commissions.
