David Mann, founder and head of New York’s MR Architecture and Décor, (a firm known for straddling the line between both disciplines, and a perennial fixture on AD’s top 100), wanted to use the retrospective as an opportunity for improvement. He wanted his team to assess the work they had done, to discover just what it was they were proud of, and to decide how they could bring these elements to bear on their projects in the future. This deliberate, conscientious thinking, coupled with a certain modesty and collaborative spirit, are exactly what have distinguished MR’s projects to date. These are the qualities that have delivered the firm consistently intelligent, beautiful, and remarkable results, and they are the influence of the firm’s chief, David Mann.

Excellent oysters, wine and locally sourced food. Feels like a 19th century throwback with an edge. Crafted cocktails and the gas lantern lights set this restaurant apart.

Healthy and wholesome, the food here is Satiating to say the least. Be sure to indulge in their baked goods which they specialize in not to mention their cute homemade branded jams which remind me of Avoca Cafe in Ireland. My favorite part is the library where you can peruse a great collection of books while you wait for your food.

“Swoon still holds its own as one of the nicest restaurants in Hudson. It’s located in a fairly stripped-back old retail space and is filled with antique furnishings. Maybe because it’s one of the few restaurants that was there when I first started visiting, this place feels like home to me.”
