Ana Hito, former food editor of Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand Goop is now the founder of a small field-to-table dinner series on her farm in Goshen, New York, called It’s a Dinner. It’s a Dinner, is focused on creating a space and environment that supports the community through the experience of a dinner. Ana has immersed herself in the farm, and the creation of every aspect of the dinners. Designing tables, dishware, and the menu to all circumference the idea of seasonality and local-sustainability.
Ana has expanded this concept by opening a small farm shop called The Greenhouse of Goshen, that houses the plenty that the farm has to offer; fresh produce, ceramic bowls, herb teas, salvs, and beeswax candles. The shop is open from May to November and also offers a small and constantly varying brunch menu that is designed with the same ethos of the dinners.
Main Street Market
One of my favorite markets in the Catskills, always stocked with local meets, produce, beer and wine. Also a great spot for a deliscious sandwich to-go.
Bovina Center, NY
I don't think twice about driving an hour to the charming town of Bovina where Sarah and Sohail of Brushland have somehow managed to nail the small-town, mom-and-pop restaurant atmosphere that feels and tastes every bit authentic.
